How to Make Steamed Custard Cake (Leche Puto)

One of the more famous delicacies to us Filipinos are Puto, another variation is our Leche Puto.
A combination of Puto with Leche Flan on top. I would to share with you how to make them.

Here are the ingredients:
8 Egg Yolks
4 Egg Whites
2 cups Cake Flour
1 cup Granulated Sugar
1 cup Fresh Milk
1 Can Condensed Milk
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
2 tsp Baking Powder
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
2 tbsp Melted butter

Yellow food coloring (optional)

We start by beating the 8 pcs of egg yolk, then add 1 can of condensed milk. Next we add in our vanilla extract and our lemon juice. Set aside.

We now combine all our dry ingredients flour, sugar and baking powder. Sift all these ingredients then set aside.

Beat 4 egg whites using a hand mixer or an egg beater then add it to our dry ingredients.
Mix thoroughly. Add our melted butter.
Lastly, add the yellow food coloring.

Brush all molds with melted butter and now pour slowly our
Flan (egg yolk) mixture. Steam for 5 minutes.

Put  a tea cloth on our cover to avoid water into our custard cake.

After 5 minutes we can now add our Puto (egg whites) mixture then steam for 10 minutes.

To check if it's cook use a bamboo skewer and prick one, if it comes out clean then it is really to serve.
Bon Appetit!
